El viernes bajamos a San Salvador a entregar los papeles de la residencia, por falta de la firma del alcalde en uno de los documentos, no los pude entregar, pero al menos Patri estuvo arreglando alguno de los suyos.
De ahí fuimos a la Universidad Nacional de El Salvador donde nos encontramos con Esther en el bonito edificio en el que trabaja, lleno de arte y color. Caminamos a su casa y fuimos a hacer la compra para el fin de semana en la playa. Cenamos en su casa, yo empecé a hablar con dos chicos que venían de EEUU con otra organización dirigida hacia futuros médicos y conocimos a Melvin, un amigo de Esther, que nos guió el fin de semana maravilloso en Los Cóbanos.
Nos quedamos esa noche Patri y yo en un hostal muy europeo, muy chulo llamado al lado arte residencia. ¿al lado de qué? de la casa tomada, un espacio cultural al que pienso ir cada vez que pueda donde desayunamos a la mañana siguiente y conocimos personas interesantes. Llegó el chico que nos alquiló el coche y de ahí salimos a buscar a Esther y a Melvin.
Melvin nos llevó entonces al sitio donde pasamos sábado y domingo, hostal casa Garrobo, en la playa de los cóbanos. Bajamos a la playa, comimos pescadito fresco y pasamos dos días geniales con el sonido del mar, la guitarra de Melvin y la compañía de los cuatro. El domingo volvimos después de almorzar en Izalco, pueblo por el que pasamos para verlo y comer yuca antes de ir a casa y cenamos en casa pupusas y por primera vez hicimos una que según Cruz (la experta en pupusas de la casa) no estaban mal :D
El lunes despertamos temprano para ir a una reunión en Tecoluca para presentar el proyecto que se está llevando a cabo en Guadalupe y parece que todo salió bien y que están interesados en apostar por RIE :) Un municipio que apuesta por la educación, apuesta por un futuro mejor para todos los agentes de él.
A la vuelta estuvimos presente en una reunión con la asociación de mujeres salvadoreñas, apoyando a las mujeres del pueblo para ser escuchadas en el consejo y proponiendo proyectos para el año que viene.
Al llegar, tomamos café riquísimo, cuidamos poco a la delgadtia, la perra que nos dejó la otra Esther que estaba aquí, y a pesar de tener mucho mucho trabajo, decidimos salir a jugar a fútbol al parque con los niños de la casa.
Friday we went to San Salvador to turn in my paperwork for residency, but because the mayor didn´t sign one of the papers, I couldn´t turn them in, but at least Patri fixed a few of her papers there.
From there, we went to the National University of El Salvador where we met up with Esther in the nice building she works in full or color and art. All three of us walked to her house and did the shopping for the weekend ahead at the beach. We had dinner at her place, I started chatting to two guys from the states who where there on another volunteering program designed for future doctors and we met Melvin, a friend of Esther´s, who took us to where we would spend our amazing weekend.
Patri and I stayed at a really cool hostel called "al lado arte residencia", next to what? to la casa tomada, an art space to create and innovate which I´m planning on going to everytime I can. It´s also the place we had breakfast at the next morning and met cool people. The boy who rented the car arrived and we were off to look for Esther and Melvin.
Melvin then took us to the place we spent our Saturday and Sunday, casa algarrobo hostel, on the Cobanos beach. We went down to the beach, had fresh fish and spent two wonderful days with the sound of the ocean, Melvin´s guitar and our company. On Sunday, we were back after having yuca in Izalco for lunch and getting home making my first pupusa! It was not bad, assured Cruz (the pupusa maker in the house :D)
We got up really early on Monday to go to a meeting in Tecoluca to present the project that is actually being done in Guadalupe and it seems to us it all went well, and seemed interested in our program RIE.
On our way back we went to a meeting regarding the salvadoran women and their rights, defending they must be heard of and thinking about next years´possible projects.
When we got back, we had lovely coffee, we took care of little delgadita, the dog the other Esther left here for us, and even though we have a lot a lot of work, we decided to go play football in the town park with the kids in the house.
